ILE 2000

Our educational and intercultural programs are designed to maximize the American experience in a Total Immersion set up. Our guests reside with ILE's American families in a common sense of "togetherness".

International Language Experience’s, ILE team believes strongly in the importance of our educational role in facilitating international understanding. We consider this intercultural exchange to be the foundation of a renewed and rejuvenated global society. Since its foundation in 1993, ILE reassesses its programs according to the ongoing changes of our global world.

As educators, we must "reinvent" our mission and step out of the traditional boundaries. It is imperative for all educational systems around the world to write a universal curriculum. ILE is offering a forum allowing the international visitors/students to create a unique syllabus defined by their own cultural heritages.

In 1995, we had the opportunity to welcome a group of 123 students accompanied by 16 adults' chaperons and teachers from a private school in South Korea. Our mission was to teach them English as a Second Language (ESL) while helping them to better understand our American culture. As the result of a "mandatory project", our young Koreans and Americans improvised a "Music Jam Session" with a unique bi-cultural rhythm. Since, we have included the Arts as an important component in our programs.

This enormous task became an important stepping stone for ILE; this marvelous venture has re-enforced ILE's belief that international education must be associated with intercultural exchanges in the making a successful outcome. To achieve our goals, we included cultural workshops with American students, site seeing with their American host's families, as well as their inclusion in the American daily lifestyle.
